At UIC we have carefully designed and planned policies which cover all aspects of your experience with us. We want to make sure that you learn in a safe and supportive environment and especially one where you can easily understand how we manage things. We believe you will learn a language best if we work together.
We believe the environment you study in should be safe and comfortable. We have a very detailed Health and Safety Policy which covers all aspects of this - Safety in the building, First Aid, Security, Fire and so on. If you would like to read the full policy you can download it here. Health & Safety Policy It is a large document with over 50 pages. If you have any questions you can contact us.
We teach languages and have a very clear structure for making sure this is done effectively. We also know this will only come about if we have good teachers who are properly supported. If you would like to see our full Academic Handbook which explains how we deal with students, designing the curriculum and learning - all the way from admissions, the first day through to leaving and what you might expect to learn with us please contact us.
We have special responsibilities to certain groups of students, particularly those under 18 years of age (where we also have legal responsibilities for their safety and well-being) as well as others who may have difficulties studying, whether this is for physical reasons (mobility) or learning difficulties (for example dyslexia). We have regular training and detailed policies to make sure these areas are properly dealt with. You can download the safeguarding policy here or if you have any questions you can contact us.
UIC is a multicultural and multilingual environment where students and staff work happily and productively together. We have a policy to explain what we will do if a student's actions damage that relationship. Our discipline policy can be downloaded here.
We also recognise that we can always be better. We welcome feedback from all our students and have a detailed system for ensuring all students are asked for their views. We also have an official complaints procedure which you may use if you have experienced any problems with the school. If you would like to see policies for complaints or feedback please contact us. You can download the complaints policy here.
These policies are reviewed and updated regularly, if you have any general questions about them or would like to comment on them we would welcome hearing from you. Please contact David Wilkins, Director, UIC London. davidw@uiclondon.com |
