Spanish is now the 2nd most commonly spoken language on earth. It is spoken and used by over 400 million people in countries from Chile to Spain as well as in many cities throughout the world. For example Spanish is widely used in New York and Los Angeles where it is a vibrant alternative to English and in many cases a first language. Students come to us to learn Spanish for a number of different reasons - sometimes for a holiday, sometimes for work or perhaps just for cultural interest. We have had students who were interested in flamenco and Spanish films.
UIC London offers a wide choice of Spanish language courses. Lessons include a balance of conversation, listening, pronunciation, grammar to help you survive and communicate in everyday situations in Spanish speaking countries.
With the aid of a text book, the syllabus aims to provide useful, relevant language using up-to-date and interesting materials, as well as encouraging participants to practise the language to help confidence and develop fluency.
We use an interactive method of teaching based on learning by practising. That means that grammar is covered as much as possible by using practical situations, so speaking and actively using the language is central. Successfully implementing the interactive method totally depends on the personal attention your teacher is able to give you. Our groups never have more than twelve students on all courses.
A large part of the study material is presented in the form of practical activities and exercises through which you will learn to understand and speak Spanish almost without noticing. In class, we make use of videos and other audio-visual materials. Naturally you will also be set weekly homework!
Programmes run consecutively so it provides the opportunity for continuous training, allowing students to progress and move up to a higher level once the course is finished.
