More information Foreign Language

UIC is a privately owned language school in Central London. We run our foreign language courses directly and have a department dedicated to ensuring they are offered at the highest quality.  UIC also offers English language classes to foreign students and so we have facilities and expertise in teaching languages to all sorts of students.

As well as group classes we also offer individual tuition and teach classes in companies

It is always beneficial to learn a new language – whatever the reason. At UIC we offer classes in a number of different languages at a range of different levels. The classes are highly interactive with the focus on speaking and listening and with our small classes (maximum 12 average 9) there is plenty of opportunity to speak.

All the teachers are native speakers of the language they teach and all have a formal teaching qualification. The vast majority of our students come to us through recommendation – the best reference we can hope for.

As we are a language school there are plenty of opportunities to meet students here to improve their English; it is possible to set up an exchange conversations session with them to give you a better opportunity to practise your speaking skills.

If you still need reasons to learn a language you might find the following information interesting!

  • Only 6% of the world’s population speak English as a first language
  • 75% of the world’s population don’t speak any English at all
  • The top 3 languages spoken (most people) are Chinese,  Spanish, Hindi
  • 80% of UK export managers cannot conduct business in a foreign language
  • The proportion of UK executives who can negotiate in another language is half the EU average
  • Companies are willing to pay more if they can buy in their own language over 74% of employers are dissatisfied with school-leavers’ language skills
  • 9 out of 10 international recruiters believe the ability to speak another language is ‘critical to success’
  • The UK is over-reliant, compared to the rest of the world, on business with countries which speak the same language
