Students at UIC learn Spanish for a huge variety of reasons. Flamenco enthusiasts, working with exports to Mexico or spending a couple of weeks on the beach in Spain, there is no shortage of reasons to learn – whether it’s from scratch or at a more advanced level. Spanish is now the 2nd most widely spoken language on Earth, spoken and used by over 400 million people in countries from Chile to Spain as well as being an alternative to English (and often a first language) in many US cities. It is also one of the most widely taught languages at school in the UK.
The minimum age for our Foreign Language courses is 17 unless otherwise notified.

The syllabus provides a relevant structure and the lessons include a balance of conversation, listening, pronunciation and grammar to help you learn – whether survival on a holiday or at a more sophisticated level. You will follow a text book and the teachers use up-to-date and interesting materials including TV and the internet along with a communicative methodology which will get you actually practising the language and developing fluency – almost without noticing. Grammar and the more formal aspects of the language are covered as much as possible by using practical situations - speaking and actively using the language is central. You will also be set weekly homework.
|
Group classes have a maximum of 14 students; programmes run consecutively so there is the opportunity for continuous training, allowing you to progress and move up to a higher level once a course is finished.
Deciding where to learn Spanish is not necessarily easy, but we are one of the biggest Language Schools in London and have many many years experience. Our courses are independently inspected. You can call us anytime between 9am and 8pm.
We can also help you find schools in Spain or Latin America if you have the time to travel.

We teach Spanish at several different levels - from Complete Beginners up to Advanced levels. Our levels progress as follows:
Beginner
Elementary
Pre Intermediate
Low Intermediate
Intermediate
Upper Intermediate
Advanced
Making sure you are in the right class is one of the most important things for us; if you have never studied Spanish before it is quite straightforward - you'd go into a Beginners' class. If you have studied the language (whenever that might have been) or lived in a Spanish speaking country, then we need to go through a process of finding out which level is the right one. We have an online test which you can do and we also like to talk to you - in Spanish - so we can be sure. Often speaking and writing skills can be quite different and as the emphasis of the classes at UIC is on speaking and communicating we give this a special emphasis. Except for Beginners classes, you can also go to a class as a trial to see if it is right for you.
We also run courses for AS / A level. These are designed to help students make the difficult jump from GCSE up to AS level. As in all our courses the emphasis is on communication and making the language come to life. We welcome students whatever their GCSE grade.
Any questions, or if you would just like to chat about the levels or what goes on in the class, please get in touch. |
Learning a language is in many ways just like learning anything, it is best done if you have a teacher who has the experience, skills and resources to help you. At UIC we have the experience to help you achieve your goals - whether you want Spanish for a holiday or for professional reasons we can help you get there.
UIC is a language school in the centre of London - we currently teach 9 different languages including English to around 500 people a week. We are accredited by the British Council and ISI (the private school equivalent of OFSTED) and are one of a very few schools - perhaps the only private language school - who have their Foreign Language teaching inspected. We are also an award winning school, we are the only language school in the world to have won both of the major awards - the STAR Language School in Europe (voted on by travel agents worldwide) and the British Council ELTon award for innovation in English Language Teaching.
So, great location, award winning, accredited and inspected and we directly employ and manage not only all the teachers but also the buildings and the curriculum.
