Why learn English?

Being able to use English is one of today's key skills. It is the most widely used language in the world for international business, for technology and for scsience. Being able to use English effectively is now one of the very basic skills required for any kind of successful career which involves international business or travel.  Although most of our students have learned English to some degree in their home towns, there is no substitute for taking an organised course at an accredited and award winning school. Learning English in London is one of the best combinations you can find.

How much will I learn?

When you start with us we will place you into a class at your level. There are many reasons which influence how much you will learn but we are confident in saying you will always learn more in an environment which is structured and which has skilled, knowledgeable and experienced teachers. You go to school or college to learn everything and language is no different. You can't just learn a language by living in another country or by surrounding yourself with the language. It needs hard work and a focus. We can quite accurately predict how much you wil learn in a given time and for a particular course taking into account different factors like your first language, where you come from, your age, how long you have been studying that language and so on.

We have an average of 140 students in the school learning English - higher in the summer. This is big enough to give a range of classes and also a great social programme and yet small enough for us to be aware of who you are and to work with you if you have any special requests. Classes are small and multinational, our teachers are from a variety of backgrounds and most have been with us for several years. All have teaching qualifications and many have also taught in other countries.

In classes we use a variety of different approaches to teaching and learning, but in everything we do our aim is to help you to communicate in English. Teachers follow a syllabus based on published course books which are adapted and supplemented by additional materials. We make use of technology where it is appropriate, the school is equipped with PCs, wifi and TVs in classrooms and all students have free access to our on-line learning materials while they are in the school learning English, and for one year after the course in London finishes. We are also one of the few English schools in London where you can meet English students who will be  studying one of the other languages we teach.
