Spanish Language Classes

Learn spanish in london

Spanish is spoken and used by over 400 million people in countries from Chile to Spain as well as in many cities throughout the world and is now the 2nd most commonly spoken language on earth. As a vibrant alternative to English in cities from New York to Los Angeles it continues to grow, not simply in terms of the numbers but also in importance. Spanish is one of the most popular languages we teach and we have regular beginners’ courses starting – often every couple of weeks. Our students come for a huge range of different reasons – often because they are doing business in Spanish speaking countries but also just for pleasure – perhaps for a holiday. So, whether you are interested in flamenco, tango or salsa, perhaps in helping your business to grow or maybe just being able to order a beer on holiday you’ll find no shortage of reasons to improve your Spanish.

Our aim as with all of our language courses is to teach you to communicate. Finding a Spanish School - somewhere where you can effectively learn Spanish in London is not necessarily easy but we believe at UIC we have the right balance of experience to help you. UIC is a Language School in London where we design and run all our courses and have been doing so for many years. We are accredited by the British Council for teaching English and use all the same facilities and approaches for teaching other languages. So, what we have found to be successful over the years in teaching many thousands of student English, we are able to use for teaching other languages. This is a mixture of text books, printed materials, videos and of course the internet. We have also recently opened an award-winning internet based radio station which we use to further help students develop their communication skills, for example making programmes in Spanish which are broadcast over the web. This is offered additionally to the classes and may involve anything from being a DJ in Spanish and introducing songs to full-scale discussions.  Materials and ideas used in the classrooms are all up to date and relevant to the challenge of learning a language in the 21st century. Our teachers are all native speakers of Spanish and can give you proper support and attention in our classes - which never have more than 12 students. We aim to be able to help you appreciate the language, enjoy it and of course use it and will include plenty of practice activities as well as grammar and skills work (reading and writing).

If you are not a beginner we can easily give you a language test to find your level and then to make sure you will be studying in the right class. We have courses at different levels starting regularly, and beginners Just call – 02070793334.

Would you like to combine a holiday with the opportunity to improve your Spanish even faster – contact us for help in finding a Spanish School in Spain or Latin America?

Spanish is now the 2nd most commonly spoken language on earth. It is spoken and used by over 400 million people in countries from Chile to Spain as well as in many cities throughout the world. For example Spanish is widely used in New York and Los Angeles where it is a vibrant alternative to English and in many cases a first language.

Programmes run consecutively so it provides the opportunity for continuous training, allowing students to progress and move up to a higher level once the course is finished. If you are not sure what your level is, you can check the different levels by looking at the SYLLABUS section below or calling us - 0207 307 1980 or sending an email using FASTBACK.

We are here to answer any questions you may have. Deciding where to learn Spanish is not necessarily easy, but we are one of the biggest Language Schools in London. We can also help you find schools in Spain or Latin America if you have the time to travel.

Please note the minimum age for our Foreign Language courses is 18 unless otherwise notified.

Languages Test

When you choose to do a course with us, the first thing we do is to test your level. We have classes at different levels and it is vital you are in the right place for the most effective learning.

Our classes are organised into the following levels

Beginners

Beginners Plus

Elementary

Pre Intermediate

Intermediate

Upper Intermediate

Advanced

Proficiency

You can see how the syllabus is constructed by following the link to syllabus and in many cases this will give you a good idea before you start. Our levels are also mapped onto the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages which will give you a detailed list of the kinds of things you should be able to do at different levels.

For non-European languages the situation is a bit more complicated, as well as the normal spoken language (introductions, talking about yourself, etc) we will need to know other more specific things. For Chinese we will need to know whether you have learned the pinyin (the 4 tones in Mandarin) and for Japanese the Hiragana (one of the writing systems in Japanese). In Japanese this will be followed at higher levels by learning the Katakana and then the Kanji.

Obviously if you are a beginner the situation is not very complicated. One of the most common questions we are asked about level is form people who studied in the past – maybe GCSE at school several years ago- and to find that level really depends on what has happened since then. It might be the case that a grade C at GCSE 10 years ago means a beginners’ class is best while an A 2 years ago might mean a higher level. Our classes are mainly communicative so there is an emphasis on speaking. This is not always matched by experience of having learned a language at school.

At the moment we are developing an online level test which we hope to have in place during the early part of 2011 but mean while we are always happy to talk to you on the phone or in person to assess your level without any commitment. Just give us a call.
