German is the second most commonly taught language at schools in the UK. As well as in Germany, it is spoken in much of Switzerland, Austria and Lichtenstein and it is still common as a 2nd language in many countries in Eastern Europe. So, for travel across much of Europe and even the ex-Soviet countries it is still one of the most useful languages to know. Apart from the US, Germany is the major trade partner of the UK. A 2012 CBI survey on which language skills UK employers find useful to their business puts a competence in German top. So, whether its culture or nature you’ll be sure to find something to fit the bill.

A communicative methodology is at the heart of our teaching at UIC. Classes offer a mix of integrated speaking and written activities which will give you the maximum opportunity to both learn and practise. So whether for holiday or work we will have you using the language as soon as we can - and as easily as we can. More formal areas - grammar for example - are dealt with in practical situations wherever possible to make the language interesting and alive. You will have homework weekly.
The minimum age for our Foreign Language courses is 17 unless otherwise notified.
|
Group classes have a maximum of 14 students. Programmes run consecutively so there is the opportunity for continuous training, allowing you to progress and move up to a higher level once a course is finished.
Deciding where to learn German is not necessarily easy, but we are one of the biggest Language Schools in London and have many many years experience. You can call us anytime between 9am and 8pm.
We can also help you find schools in Germany or Switzerland if you have the time to travel.

At UIC, we believe that one of the most important things is finding the appropriate level for you. If you have studied German in the past, we will have to test your level to make sure you enrol on the right class. The first step is to take our online test. This will assess your grammar and vocabulary knowledge. Then we would like to speak to you in German, so that we can be sure. Your level in grammar and speaking could be different. Classes at UIC are mainly communicative, so it is important for us to check your speaking level. We can also organise a trial lesson for students who are not complete beginners.
| We also run courses for AS / A level. These are designed to help students make the difficult jump from GCSE up to AS level. As in all our courses the emphasis is on communication and making the language come to life. We welcome students whatever their GCSE grade. |
Any questions, or if you would just like to chat about the levels or what goes on in the class, please get in touch.

Learning a language is in many ways just like learning anything, it is best done if you have a teacher who has the experience, skills and resources to help you. At UIC we have the experience to help you achieve your goals - whether you want German for a holiday or for professional reasons we can help you get there.
UIC is a language school in the centre of London - we currently teach 9 different languages including English to around 500 people a week. We are accredited by the British Council and ISI (the private school equivalent of OFSTED) and are one of a very few schools - perhaps the only private language school - who have their Foreign Language teaching inspected. We are also an award winning school, we are the only language school in the world to have won both of the major awards - the STAR Language School in Europe (voted on by travel agents worldwide) and the British Council ELTon award for innovation in English Language Teaching.
So, great location, award winning, accredited and inspected and we directly employ and manage not only all the teachers but also the buildings and the curriculum.
