LEARN SPANISH IN LONDON
Students come to us to learn Spanish for a number of different reasons - sometimes for a holiday, sometimes for work or perhaps just for cultural interest. We have had students who were interested in flamenco and Spanish films.
UIC is a specialist Language School. We offer you a Spanish School in London where you can learn from the beginning or improve with our wide choice of Spanish language courses. Lessons include a balance of conversation, listening, pronunciation, grammar to help you survive and communicate in everyday situations in Spanish speaking countries.
With the aid of a text book, the syllabus aims to provide useful and relevant language using up-to-date and interesting materials, as well as encouraging participants to practise the language to help confidence and develop fluency.
We use an interactive method of teaching based on learning by practising. That means that grammar is covered as much as possible by using practical situations, so speaking and actively using the language is central.
Our groups never have more than twelve students on all group courses. A large part of the study material is presented in the form of practical activities and exercises through which you will learn to understand and speak Spanish almost without noticing. In class, we make use of videos and other audio-visual materials. Naturally you will also be set weekly homework.

Spanish is now the 2nd most commonly spoken language on earth. It is spoken and used by over 400 million people in countries from Chile to Spain as well as in many cities throughout the world. For example Spanish is widely used in New York and Los Angeles where it is a vibrant alternative to English and in many cases a first language.
|
Programmes run consecutively so it provides the opportunity for continuous training, allowing students to progress and move up to a higher level once the course is finished. If you are not sure what your level is, you can check the different levels by looking at the SYLLABUS section below or calling us - 0207 307 1980 or sending an email using FASTBACK.
|
We are here to answer any questions you may have. Deciding where to learn Spanish is not necessarily easy, but we are one of the biggest Language Schools in London. We can also help you find schools in Spain or Latin America if you have the time to travel.
Please note the minimum age for our Foreign Language courses is 18 unless otherwise notified.
|
When you choose to do a course with us, the first thing we do is to test your level. We have classes at different levels and it is vital you are in the right place for the most effective learning.
Our classes are organised into the following levels
Beginners
Beginners Plus
Elementary
Pre Intermediate
Intermediate
Upper Intermediate
Advanced
Proficiency
You can see how the syllabus is constructed by following the link to syllabus and in many cases this will give you a good idea before you start. Our levels are also mapped onto the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages which will give you a detailed list of the kinds of things you should be able to do at different levels.
For non-European languages the situation is a bit more complicated, as well as the normal spoken language (introductions, talking about yourself, etc) we will need to know other more specific things. For Chinese we will need to know whether you have learned the pinyin (the 4 tones in Mandarin) and for Japanese the Hiragana (one of the writing systems in Japanese). In Japanese this will be followed at higher levels by learning the Katakana and then the Kanji.
Obviously if you are a beginner the situation is not very complicated. One of the most common questions we are asked about level is from people who studied in the past – maybe GCSE at school several years ago- and to find that level really depends on what has happened since then. It might be the case that a grade C at GCSE 10 years ago means a beginners’ class is best while an A 2 years ago might mean a higher level. Our classes are mainly communicative so there is an emphasis on speaking. This is not always matched by experience of having learned a language at school.
Please try our online tests or if you'd prefer to talk to us about your level please call - 0207 307 1980.
