Portuguese is the 7th most widely spoken language in the world (following Chinese, Spanish, English, Hindi, Bengali and Arabic). Portuguese and Spanish are also the fastest growing after English and Portuguese has the highest potential for growth as an international language in South America and Southern Africa. UNESCO estimates Portuguese speaking countries will have 335 million people buy 2050! The biggest country where Portuguese is a native language is Brazil which is one of the major growing world economies.
Programmes in Portuguese at UIC are consecutive with one level following on from another. This means you can continue to study and improve your language over a period of time.
