The Workskills course is managed by Edexcel (the UKs largest examination body) and is aimed at UK students wanting to get into work. The course leads to a qualification at level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) which also means that any international students taking this course in an officially accredited school can take a full time paid work placement as a part of the course. Although it is also possible to take the course without taking a work placement we have found that students who take this option benefit hugely from the experience. The number of weeks you are allowed to work is up to 50% of the total number of weeks of the course, so if you study for 12 weeks you are allowed to take a work placement for 12 weeks, the total length of the course being 24 weeks.
Although the course was initially designed for British students UIC has worked with Edexcel to make sure the delivery is now appropriate for international students and will benefit anyone studying with us
The course is designed around a number of different modules, each of which attracts credits. The course is successfully completed when the right number of credits has been earned.
The course can also be completed without a work experience module.
Minimum length of course 1. without work experience 6 weeks 2. with unpaid work experience course minimum 6 weeks + internship 3. with paid work placement: course minimum 12 weeks and placement up to the same no of weeks |
