Most people who join our classes in our Language School simply want to know how to communicate in a second language. Whether the emphasis is on speaking, listening, reading or writing, everything we teach is organized to help you achieve this goal. Naturally we also teach grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary but we do so in order for you to be able to use the language. Our classes are organized by level and into small groups (12 max) so there is maximum opportunity for you to learn effectively. We have found over the years that the confidence gained in a small group, where you have plenty of opportunity to practice, is key to successful learning. Naturally in a Japanese class we also have to address the writing conventions and learning how to write and read the characters forms a central part of the course. This is usually one of the parts of the course students enjoy most – the characters can become a form of art – an unexpected benefit from the classes. We use materials especially prepared by the teachers for teaching Japanese alongside different commercially produced text books to give you the right kind of support for learning. The teachers are, as you would expect, all native speakers of Japanese and have been trained to teach Japanese as a Foreign Language. As well as work in the class we will give you recommendations about how to improve your Japanese skills in London – where to shop, eat or relax in a Japanese environment!
