The Social Week at UIC

On Monday we welcomed our new students at UIC in the traditional way…down the pub! First we went to The George and learnt about English beer. Then at the Cock we learnt about cockney slang, such as ‘Apples and Pairs’ for stairs and finally at the last pub we learnt about darts and had a yummy fish and chip supper.

On Wednesday we went to the Museum of London. This museum is dedicated to the history of the city and had a chronological lay out telling the story, from prehistoric times to present day. It was very interesting to learn about events such as the Great Fire of London in 1666, the Plague and the Royal Family. We even got the chance to try on some Roman armour!

Taking in the last of the sunshine this week we went for a picnic on Hampstead Heath. This large, ancient park has rambling grasslands, wooded forests and a great view from Parliament Hill.

Join our teacher Tris and other UIC students for a picnic in Hyde Park and then watch the Queen’s Jubilee concert on big screens: meet at 1pm outside the Odeon Cinema at Marble Arch on Monday 4th June.
