  • why uic?

Russia is the largest country in the world, covering more than one-eighth of the Earth's inhabited land area. Russia is also the world's ninth most populous nation with 143 million people as of 2012. Extending across the whole of northern Asia, Russia spans nine time zones and incorporates a wide range of environments and landforms.

Russia is one of the fastest growing economies in the world today and as Russian is also widely spoken in the CIS countries ranging from Khazakstan in the east to Ukraine and Azerbaijan in the West (with a combined population 276 million people with Russia) there are plenty of reasons to improve your Russian language skills.

A structure to the course which focuses on communication is an essential part of our curriculum. Whether learning for pleasure or a career we will help you to develop your confidence and your fluency. The methodology is designed to get you using the language as quickly and comfortably as possible. Grammar and more formal aspects of Russian are also covered - but in an interesting and relevant way. Regular homework is given.

The minimum age for our Foreign Language courses is 17 unless otherwise notified.

Group classes have a maximum of 14 students; programmes run consecutively so there is the opportunity for continuous training, allowing you to progress and move up to a higher level once a course is finished.

Deciding where to learn Russian is not necessarily easy, but we are one of the biggest Language Schools in London and have many many years experience. Our courses are independently inspected. You can call us anytime between 9am and 8pm.

One of the most important things for us is to be sure that you enrol on the right class for your level. If you have studied the language before, we will need to assess your level. We will organise a speaking assessment with one of our teachers, who will recommend a level for you. Apart from the complete Beginner, you can also book a trial lesson in one of our courses.

Any questions, or if you would just like to chat about the levels of our Russian courses or what goes on in the class, please get in touch.

Learning a language is in many ways just like learning anything, it is best done if you have a teacher who has the experience, skills and resources to help you. At UIC we have the experience to help you achieve your goals - whether you want Russian for a holiday or for professional reasons we can help you get there.

UIC is a language school in the centre of London - we currently teach 9 different languages including English to around 500 people a week. We are accredited by the British Council and ISI (the private school equivalent of OFSTED) and are one of a very few schools - perhaps the only private language school - who have their Foreign Language teaching inspected. We are also an award winning school, we are the only language school in the world to have won both of the major awards - the STAR Language School in Europe (voted on by travel agents worldwide) and the British Council ELTon award for innovation in English Language Teaching.

So, great location, award winning, accredited and inspected and we directly employ and manage not only all the teachers but also the buildings and the curriculum.
